Reports to: Learning Centre Owner.
Position Overview:
The Academic Manager is responsible for overseeing the academic leadership of HEI Schools Al Khobar. This role includes planning, developing, and implementing the Finland-inspired early childhood education curriculum, ensuring pedagogical quality, and leading the professional development of local educators. The Academic Manager will work closely with the preschool owner. Playing a key role in establishing a supportive and high-quality learning environment. The role also involves managing assessment practices, guiding family engagement, and fostering a collaborative community among educators and staff.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Significant experience in early childhood education, preferably focusing on holistic, play-based learning.
- Strong communication skills, with proficiency in English.
Preferred:
- Experience working with Finnish early education principles and/or HEI Schools curriculum is a plus.
- Experience in a leadership or management role in an educational setting.
- Familiarity with local educational regulations and international best practices.
- Experience working in an international or multicultural setting.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Curriculum and Pedagogy Leadership:
Lead the planning, development, and implementation of HEI Schools’ Finland-inspired early childhood curriculum. Ensure that the curriculum reflects the values and educational standards of HEI Schools and meets the developmental needs of children aged 1-5 years. - Pedagogical Guidance:
Provide support and direction to local educators, ensuring effective implementation of the curriculum. Guide educators in the use of observational techniques, assessment, and pedagogical documentation to track children’s progress and support individualized learning. - Assessment & Evaluation:
Oversee the development and application of assessment methods that track children’s cognitive, physical, social, and emotional progress. Guide educators in using child portfolios to document development and evaluate the quality of pedagogy. - Professional Development:
Lead and facilitate professional development opportunities for educators. Conduct regular observations and offer constructive feedback to support staff growth. Foster a culture of continuous learning, ensuring that educators are skilled in the implementation of the curriculum. - Family & Community Engagement:
Build and maintain positive relationships with families, ensuring clear communication about children’s progress and the importance of play-based learning. Organize workshops and parent meetings to educate families about the significance of early childhood education and the HEI Schools pedagogical approach. - Staff Leadership & Management:
Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, and professional development of educators. Provide mentorship and coaching to local educators to enhance their teaching practices. Lead team meetings and ensure collaboration across the educational team. - Policy Development & Operations:
Collaborate with the principal to develop and review policies that ensure smooth operations of the preschool. Contribute to enrollment processes and maintain accurate records for student progress and staff development. - Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain and update records of students’ academic progress and pedagogical implementation. Prepare regular reports for the preschool owner and principal, assessing curriculum effectiveness and operational needs.
